Filipinos Can Apply In JET Programme As Assistant Language Teachers In Japan This 2019

JET PROGRAMME – The Japan Exchange and Teaching or JET programme is accepting assistant language teacher (ALT) positions in 2019.

The Japan Exchange and Trade was first introduce to the Philippines in 2014 and ever since, the Embassy already sent 94 participants to Japan. In 2014, two applicants participated the program, followed by 8 more in 2015. The number of participants increased to 28 in 2016 yet reduced to 16 in 2017. This year was double up to more than 40 participants.

An article in Rappler said that the Embassy expects this increase of number of Filipino JETs to sustain in the upcoming 2019 program.

The ALTs will work in public schools or local boards of education in the prefecture they are assigned to. Their main task is to assisst in classes led by Japanese Teachers of English.

As per the report, to qualify, applicants must be a Filipino citizen with excellent ability in English, both orally and written. The applicant should be physically and mentally fit to work abroad and earned a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

To apply, their guidelines, application Forms, and details on other requirements can be found from this site. Submission of application requirements is due on January 7, 2019 (Monday) and must be submitted via courier to Japan Information and Culture Center, Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, 2627 Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City 1300.
