DFA announced that 22 Pinoy OFWs in the southern town of Padborg, Denmark were rescued from deplorable working conditions.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that the Danish authorities rescued the 22 Filipino truck driver in Denmark.

The Pinoy workers were rescued from their indecent working condition, which was described by DFA as unacceptable.

Miserable Working Condition

The Filipino truck drivers signed a contract of receiving 1060 EUR monthly salary in Poland but they were transferred in Denmark after three weeks.

The OFWs did not also receive the medical benefits, free lodge, and overtime payment promised to them.

The poor employees also experienced to sleep in container trucks without a heater, decent beddings, kitchen, and comfort room.

Miserable Working Condition

Some of them were residing at a 3×3 square-meter barracks while others are sleeping inside the truck they were driving.

According to some reports, the Pinoy driver should receive 26,000-32,000 Danish Kroner o 3500-4300 EUR monthly salary afar from the 1060 EUR they signed since they were based in Denmark and not in Poland.

Ambassador Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia flew to Denmark to ensure that Filipinos are treated properly.

Batoon-Garcia said that the agency did not yet receive any statement from United Primover Enterprises Inc. who processed the documents of the Pinoy truck drivers.
