Stampede Occurred In Negros Occidental, 28 People Injured, 1 Critical
About 28 people got injured in a stampede happened during the Family Day of 4P’s inside the municipal gym of Cauayan in Negros Occidental.
On Thursday (October 18, 2018), over 28 people were rushed into the district hospital of the municipality of Cauayan due to a stampede.
Cauayan Mayor Johnrey Tabujara narrated that the people inside the municipal gym were shocked after someone shouted that the building is on fire.
Prior to the stampede, the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) were celebrating their family day in the gym.
The Family Day celebration involves a talent competition wherein one of the participants used a fire during its performance.
The performer who used a fire on its performance triggered panic to the 4P’s beneficiaries inside the gymnasium.
The people inside the gym started to panic causing a stampede, which injured about 28 people leaving one victim in critical condition.
Mayor Tabujara also expressed his grief that a tragedy happened during a celebration event.
