Teddy Locsin Accepts DFA Chief Position Offered By President Duterte

Teodoro “Teddy Boy” Locsin was about to replace Alan Peter Cayetano after accepting President Duterte’s offer to become the next DFA chief.

Locsin said that President Rodrigo Duterte offered him the position of secretary at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and accepted without any hesitation.

Teddy Boy explained that he did not refuse to accept the position although he was still the current country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

The former lawmaker representing the first district of Makati said that his work as UN Ambassador is like sharpening blade everyday.

“I will be Secretary of Foreign Affairs which includes the UN; I will have a direct hand until the architecture of sovereign independence in all matters of state that my team started to erect is remitted. Talent that doesn’t exist outside DFA will complete it,” Locsin said quoted by GMA.

President Duterte chose Locsin to replace Cayetano as DFA chief since the latter would run as the congressman of Taguig City in the 2019 elections.
