The social media website Google+ will close after the company stated that the data of almost 500,000 users may have been exposed.

On Monday (October 8, 2018), Google Company announced that the consumer version of the social network Google+ will shut down after discovering that data leakage.

The tech giant said that the data of almost 500,000 users may have been exposed to external developers due to a bug existing in the systems for over two years.

Earlier, the social media company choose not to disclose the issue with its Application Program Interfaces (API) because of fear of citing internal documents and unnamed sources.

The company also found no evidence of misuse of users’ data and explained that no developer was aware of the bug.
