Casualty Number Updates On Naga City, Cebu Landslide
Here are the latest updates about the number of casualties and victims of the horrifying landslide in the City of Naga in Cebu.
On Thursday (September 20, 2018), the entire country was shocked on the reports that a portion of a mountain at Naga, City in Cebu suddenly collapsed.
The landslide buried around 24 houses and some residents at the slope of limestone hill in Barangay Tinaan and Naalad.
The heavy monsoon rains over the past few days allegedly triggered the portion of the mountain to collapse, according to the authorities.
The authorities and rescuers have conducted a rescue and retrieval operation to retrieve the body of the landslide victims.
On Friday (September 21, 2018), Naga City crisis management committee official Gary Cabotaje announced that at least 22 bodies were already recovered.
Cabotaje revealed that there are 60 more people remain missing and buried because of the terrifying incident.
“But I believe that [is] the conservative figure because the LGU believes that there are still more people buried under the landslide,” Cabotaje said quoted by Philstar.
The city official also said that their local government has imposed forced evacuation for over 300 families who evacuated the area at the Enan Chiong Activity Center, APO CEMEX covered court, Naalad Elementary School covered court and Cepoc Tinaan Elementary School.
