He wrote this on his recent Instagram post:

“I am very honored to be the recipient of such an amazing award. I just want to thank God for everything He has done in my life…also to the executives for believing and trusting me with such a big award.”

However, CHED declared that the recognition is invalid.

Officer-in-Charge and spokesperson J. Prospero de Vera III said that BEST is not authorized to grant the doctoral degree to Daniel Matsunaga.

The school violated the policies and guidelines stated in CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 19, series of 2014.

Basing upon that, the school is not recognized as a higher education institution (HEI). Because of this, the actor received bashing.

Daniel expressed his side regarding the statement from CHED. He said that he will never give back the award.

Furthermore, he stressed out that it means a lot to him and to his family.

“I’m really happy and blessed to have received that award and I will never say or think that I will give the award back. Of course, not. It is a blessing for my life no matter what. It means a lot to me and it means a lot to my family too,” he said.

Daniel Matsunaga admitted that the CHED’s invalidation of his doctoral degree affected him.

“I’m just a recipient of the award”, he also said, based on the report of PUSH.
