DANIEL MATSUNAGA DOCTORAL DEGREE – The Brazilian-Japanese actor Daniel Matsunaga received an honorary doctoral degree from Brethren Evangelical School of Theology.
The Brazilian-Japanese actor Daniel Matsunaga was discovered after joining the reality show Pinoy Big Brother and hailed as the big winner.
After a failed romance with Kapamilya actress Erich Gonzales, he is now in a relationship with the Polish model Karolina Pisarek.
With the successful career that he’s had in the field of show business, the actor has just recently received an honorary doctoral degree from Brethren Evangelical School of Theology.

He is now conferred with a Ph.D. in Humanities, major in Social Work. The awarding was held on Saturday, Sept. 8 in a restaurant in Cubao, Quezon City.
“I am very honored to be the recipient of such an amazing award. I just want to thank God for everything He has done in my life…also to the executives for believing and trusting me with such a big award,” he wrote in an Instagram account.
He added, “To my family who has always been there for me, no matter what the situation, or how big my problems were, they never left me alone.”

An honorary doctoral degree as per LADC is “often awarded in recognition of one’s life experiences denoted by the letters ‘h.c.’, which is an abbreviation for ‘honoris causa’ (Latin for ‘for the sake of honor’)”.
As CHED’s database, BEST is not included on the list of recognized higher education institutions.
Meanwhile, based on BEST’s Facebook page, here are the criteria to receive an honorary doctoral degree:
1) proven character
2) length of services rendered at least 10 years and above
3) life experienced in line with expertise
4) life achievements in the field of practice of expertise
5) nominated by credible individual that knows you well.
