English Boxer Amir Khan Beats Samuel Vargas Via Unanimous Point Victory
AMIR KHAN – English welterweight boxcer Amir Khan wins against Canadian-Colombian boxer Samuel Vargas.
Previously, he lost to Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez via a knockout. The match was done at a catchweight of 155lb. It is five pounds under the normal middleweight limit. Alvarez weighed 175lb and was noticeably bigger than Khan.
The first four rounds were in favor for Khan, rendering the champion clumsy. Alvarez, however, waited for an opportunity to land a strike against Khan on the fifth round and eventually, made the devastating blow on the sixth round, with 23 seconds left to spare.
Thus, Khan posted on Twitter about the loss, even thanking Alvarez for the fight.
Today, Khan wins the fight with Samuel Vargas on Saturday. This is his second fight after his defeat with Alvarez two years ago, with the first one against Phil Lo Greco, in which he also won.
A recent report in Khaleej Times said that in the second round at the final seconds, Khan was knocked down to the floor. Samuel Vargas, a former North American champion, already put himself down when he astonished Khan and the crowd.
Khan saw Kell Brooks, being his next potential opponent, watching his fight at the ringside. Thus, he recovered on his stool, came out and rushed Vargas
As per the report, he wasn’t able to land a knockout, though he managed to settle for a unanimous point victory from the fight. For Vargas, meanwhile, his record dropped to 29 wins. 4 losses, and two draws.
