Canelo Alvarez Knocks Out Amir Khan In Title Fight
The Middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez retains the title after defeating Amir Khan via a devastating knockout at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In a report by ESPN, Khan seemed to be really dominant in the fight using his speed and movement. And his opponent, Alvarez was having a hard time with it.
But, the Mexican Alvarez connected. He landed a solid right hand to Amir Khanâs chin in round six. This made the devastating knockout to Khan.
Then the large crowd of Mexicans cheered on Alvarez as the match has been stopped and he retained the middleweight title after getting it from Miguel Cotto six months before.
The match was done at a catchweight of 155lb. It is five pounds under the normal middleweight limit. But, Alvarez weighed 175lb and was noticeably bigger than Khan.
At the first four rounds, Khan was just unleashing fast combinations to Alvarez making the champion look clumsy. He continued his hand-speed and volume punches.
But, until the fifth round wherein Canelo Alvarez has been finding his range. And then, the sixth round came where he made a devastating knockout punch against Khan just 23 seconds remaining in the round.
On the other hand, after the fight, Amir Khan twitted about the loss saying:

The judges score 49-46 and 48-47 for Alvarez while one of the judges score 48-47 for Khan.
Khan seemed to be just cool in spite of the loss.
Meanwhile, Gennady Golovkin, who was a unified titleholder, becomes the mandatory challenger versus Alvarez.
He then posted on Twitter that heâs âreadyâ for Canelo.

Alvarez now has a record of 47-1-1, 33 KOs while Khan has 31-4, 19 KOs.
