Phivolcs Says Earthquake Hit Eastern Samar
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said that an earthquake recently jolted Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Based on a recent social media post on the Twitter account PHIVOLCS-DOST, a quake with a magnitude of 5.2 hit a part of Eastern Samar. It was located 11.04°N, 126.38°E – 072 km N 90° E of Guiuan.
It is stated in the bulletin that the quake jolted Guiuan at 12:33:24 noontime and it has a 001 km. depth of focus. The quake is reported to have a tectonic origin. Intensity II was felt in Borongan, Eastern Samar.
According to Phivolcs, there is expected aftershocks. Meanwhile, there were no reports of damages caused by the quake.
