US Embassy Confirms That The Historical Balangiga Bells Will Be Retuned From The Philippines
BALANGIGA BELLS – The historical Balangiga bells, which was taken by US forces, will finally come back home to the Philippines according to the US Embassy.
Based on the report, in his 2017 SONA, President Duterte demanded the US to return the bells as they belong to their hometown, the Philippines. The bells were used to signal a surprise attack against Americans in the Philippine-American War at Balangiga town, Samar in 1901.
In response, the American troops crushed the entire town and the people. They, then took the bells and a cannon as spoils of war.
Recently, the U.S. Embassy affirms that the bells will return home to the Philippines.
According to a report in CNN, U.S. Embassy Spokesperson Molly Koschina verified that the U.S Department of Defense plans on returning the bells. However, they haven’t set a specific date to do so.
Koscina said that the bells will be returned to the Catholic Church and will be treated with the respect and honor they deserve. Even more, Teddyboy Locsin Jr., Philippine Ambassador of UN, spoke to a CIA informant who confirmed the bells’ return.
Thus, he made a post on Twitter:
My friend formerly of the CIA informs me we are getting back the Balangiga bells. Thank you Ambassador Nikki Haley. I told her about this last year, she worked on it. And now she got it for us. Thank you so much Mike. God bless America.
