Proposed Design Of Philippine National ID (PhilSys)

The proposed design of the Philippine national ID or Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) has been posted on the social media.

On Monday (August 6, 2018), President Duterte has finally approved the law implementing the establishment of the PhilSys in the country.

Over the past decades, the national ID system has been the center of issues and controversies because it could allegedly violate the privacy of a person.

However, the Philippine government insists that the security mechanisms will protect the confidential information.

The nation ID system can be used for both public and private transactions and can improve the delivery of government services.

PhilSys would be a valid proof of identity opening opportunities for the less fortunate and marginalized sectors.

Recently, a Twitter user named Laila chikadora has shared the photo of the proposed design of the newly-approved national ID.

In the photo, it can be seen that PhilSys contains the full name, gender, place of birth, blood type, marital status, address, citizenship, mobile number, and photo of the ID owner.

The ID can be used for the following transactions:

  • Application for social welfare and benefits
  • Application for services offered by the GSIS, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig, and other government agencies
  • Application for passport and driver’s licenses
  • Tax-related transactions
  • Registration and voting identification purposes
  • Application for schools, colleges, universities, and other learning institutions
  • Application for employment and other related transactions
  • Opening bank accounts and other transactions with banks and financial institutions
  • Verifying criminal records and clearances
  • Other transactions defined in the implementing rules and regulations (IRR)
