DPWH Pushes For Intensified Coordination To Accomplish Roadworks In Boracay

DPWH Asks For Strong Coordination To Accomplish Roadworks In Boracay Island

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is calling for an intensified coordination to accomplish the roadworks on Boracay Island.

Boracay Island has been temporarily closed to the tourists allowing the government to rehabilitate and restore the famous tourist destination.

The tourist spot has been closed to the public on April 26, 2018, and expected to reopen six months after the rehabilitation efforts.

The government is now busy restoring the island by fixing the sewage, drainage system, and roadworks for a new and better Boracay.

Recently, DPWH assistant regional for Western Visayas Engr. Jose Al Fruto said that coordination is needed to complete the roadworks at the famous haven.

“There are many challenges. We really need to work hand-in-hand and coordinate the different works,” Fruto said quoted by Manila Bulletin.

Fruto who is now serving as DPWH’s chief for the Boracay rehabilitation works said that private groups and government are now working at the same area.

Several private companies such as Boracay Tubi Systems Inc. (BTSI) and Boracay Island Water Co. Inc. (BIWC) are making efforts to enhance the sewage system in the island.

The DPWH executive also asked the residents of the island and stakeholders to consider the situation and not to blame the department for the inconvenience.

“We can’t finish the task if other groups are not done with their works,” Fruto added.
