The University Of The Philippines One Of Top 400 Universities

TOP 400 UNIVERSITIES – University Of The Philippines joined the Top 400 universities according to Quacquarreli Symonds’ (QS) list this year.

Quacquarreli Symonds is a London-based company that specializes in education and foreign studies. The company continues to publish top universities ever since 2004.

According to the report, they have released their latest World University Rankings by Subject, in which, 3 from the Philippines are included. The three universities are The University of the Philippines (UP), Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), and De La Salle University (DLSU).

Recently, Quacquarreli Symonds’ (QS) released its rankings:

The University of the Philippines (UP)

Arts and Humanities – 266
Engineering Technology – 401-450
Life Sciences and Medicine – 401-450
Social Sciences and Management – 238

Ateneo De Manila University (AdMU)

Arts and Humanities – 321
Social Sciences and Management – 385

De La Salle University

Arts and Humanities – 401-450
Social Sciences and Management – 401-450

As of today, UP made it to the top 400 universities. However, it dropped 10 rankings below from 374th to 384th.

According to a report in KAMI, UP is the only university that has made the cut. It has maintained its spot in three consecutive years respectively: 348th in 2012, 380th in 2013, and 367th in 2014.

Furthermore, it was also dropped the rank in the best Asian University from 70th to 84th. Its higher ranking last year is because of its improvement on three of the QS metrics: academic reputation, faculty-student ratio, and international faculty ratio.

As per the report: there are universities that made it to the top 1000: Ateneo de Manila University (651-700); De La Salle University (801-1000); and the University of Santo Tomas (sharing the same bracket as De La Salle University).

Elsewhere, the top 1 University is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It has remained the top university in five consecutive years.
