DENR To Save Bago City Trees From Road Widening Project Of DPWH
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) was set to save the Bago City trees from the road widening project in Negros Occidental.

About 271 acacia trees along Abuanan Road in Bago City have been cut for the road widening project of the government.
Jim Sampulna, DENR regional director for Western Visayas said that o clearance will be issued anymore to cut the trees for road expansion project.
Sampulna has ordered DENR’s office in Bago City to issue a stoppage against the contractor of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for illegally cutting trees.
DENR did not issue a permit although the DPWH’s contractor applied for a cutting permit. The tree trimming was still considered as a violation of the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines.
DENR will file charges against DPWH’s contractor for illegal pruning of trees in Abuanan Road.
100 of the pruned trees were planted about 31 years ago symbolizing the friendship of the Philippines and Japan.
