DSWD Conducts Probe On Child Left In Unattended Parked Car Case
DSWD is now investigating the case of a child left in an unattended parked car in Pasig City after its parents attend personal matters.
Previously, the video footage of a two-year-old kid left alone inside of an abandoned vehicle at the parking area goes viral after it was posted online.
The distressed toddler left alone in the car while his parents left for a while to attend personal matters during the weekend.
Recently, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) take actions regarding the incident and may take temporary custody of the child.
“There is due punishment to this. If parents are found (really) at fault then we will have to get the child from them until such period that we will see that they are serious in taking care of the child,” DSWD Secretary Virginia Orogo said quoted by Manila Bulletin.
Orogo also said that DSWD social workers are already talking with the parents to determine their liability to the child.
She explained that leaving the child inside the car with its engine-turned off could put the life of the later at stake although the air conditioner is on.
The DWSD secretary cited the RA 7610 or the “Act Providing for Stronger Deterrence and Special Protection against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination” might be filed against the parents if proven guilty.
