Super Typhoon Maria To Enter Philippines By Monday
The state weather bureau PAGASA announced Super Typhoon Maria was expected to enter the Philippines on Monday (July 09, 2018).
On Saturday (July 07, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Maria has been categorized by the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center as Super Typhoon.
The enhanced Typhoon Maria would bring heavy rains over many parts of Luzon during the weekend due to the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA said that Maria will be locally named as Gardo after entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) next week.
PAGASA senior weather specialist Samuel Duran explained that the weather disturbance was expected to intensify as it moves across the sea.
Maria was last spotted at 2,060 kilometers east of Central Luzon with sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) and could gusts up to 225 kph moving 15 kph at north-northwest direction.

According to some reports, Maria has the same strength as Typhoon Haiyan or locally known as “Bagyong Yolanda”.
