Malacañang Condemns Aquino Over Militarization Of South China Sea
Malacañang Palace was condemning former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III over the militarization of South China Sea.
On Monday (June 25, 2018), Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was blaming ex-President Aquino for worsening situation at the disputed water.
The Palace said that the militarization in the South China Sea has started during the term of Mr. Aquino.
President Rodrigo Duterte defended the disputed water after making a friendly stance towards China.
Roque said that the maritime dispute would not have worsened if Aquino did not send the Philippine Navy’s biggest warship towards Chinese poachers in Scarborough Shoal last 2012.
“Kung tayo ay gagamit ng dahas gaya ng ginawa ni Presidente Aquino na naging dahilan kung bakit nandoon ang mga Tsino sa Panatag, — iyung pagpapadala ng isang Navy ship — magre-reresulta iyan sa hidwaang militar na iniiwasan natin,” Roque said quoted by ABS-CBN.
The presidential spokesperson said that Aquino was the first who militarized the area prompting the Chinese government not to leave the area.
Scarborough Shoal was locally known as “Panatag Shoal” and “Huangyan Island” in China, which become the center of the dispute between Philippines and China during the past few years.
China takes control of the shoal after the Philippines has pulled out its vessel in the area prompting the Chinese government to block Pinoy fishermen from the shoal.
