Poor Kids In Davao Use Rattan Cable To Cross Dangerous River Just To Reach School

Poor kids in Barangay Pichon, Davao were using only a rattan cable to cross the dangerous river just to reach school.

Education is important that’s what most people and our parents always told us in order to obtain a better life when we become an adult.

Adults and elderlies believe that education is one of the primary keys to success and the only thing that parents could only give to their children.

Poor Kids

Students in the rural area usually walk few kilometers crossing dangerous rivers and steep mountains just to reach school.

Most children studying at Butay Integrated School in Barangay Pichon, Caraga in Davao Oriental were putting their lives at risk for crossing a dangerous river using only a rattan cable and a cage bridge.

Poor Kids

The less-fortunate children have to cross the raging river although it was deep and strong current.

The school principal Pablo Banabal has uploaded the video because of his concern for the students, which reached Special Assistant to President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

Go promised to support the students in the rural areas and pledged to send a team to check the condition in the area.

Naawa ako sa mga estudyante, binaliwala ang takot na sumakay sa rattan cable” para lang makapasok. The President vowed to support all students especially those in the remote areas, kaya magpadala kami ng team bukas to check the condition of the river and ultimately build a bridge for the students and the people in the area,” Go said.
