Lady Of Mercy Patients Seeks Help From President Duterte On Impending Hospital Closure
The dialysis patients of the Lady of Mercy Hospital in Bacolod City are now seeking help From President Duterte due to the impending hospital closure.
Lady of Mercy, a private hospital managed by private physicians in Bacolod City will shut down by the end of June 2018 after the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)-Western Visayas has suspended their accreditation since March 2018.
About 401 hospital employees will lose their jobs and 213 dialysis patients will be displaced if the hospital will be totally closed.
On Monday (June 18, 2018), the hospital has started to discharge patients after receiving the letter from PhilHealth-Western Visayas.
On June 07, 2018, Lourdes Diocson of PhilHealth-Western Visayas stated that the application of Lady of Mercy for continuous accreditation as a Level 2 provider has been denied, according to the letter of Dr. Reynold Wong.
The hospital has not been paid by PhilHealth from March until May 2018 with an amount of P25 million, so they were forced to close to avoid further loses.
The private hospital will close after all the patients have been fully discharged by the end of June since their operations can’t sustain without PhilHealth.
