Rachel Meghan Markle was born on August 4, 1981, and grew up in Los Angeles, California. She earned a degree in theatre and international studies at the Northwestern University in 2003.

Meghan was the daughter of Thomas Markle Sr., a retired TV director of photography and lighting, and Doria Ragland, a social worker and yoga instructor. Her parents divorced when she was only 6 years old.
