Netizen Warns Shoppers About Alleged “Modus” of Department Stores During Sale, Promo Periods

Department stores allegedly have modus during promo or sale periods?

DEPARTMENT STORES – A netizen shared on social media his alleged experience when he purchased some items from a department store.

Lots of shoppers take the sale and promo periods of department stores as perfect opportunities to purchase everything they need and even those that they want. Many believe that they can save more money if they would buy during promo or sale periods.

However, one netizen recently posted his alleged experience which is contrary to the aforementioned belief. Netizen behind the Facebook username ‘Arnel Tugade’ took to the social media a lengthy post entailing a warning to others over the alleged “modus” during the sale and promo periods in department stores.

Based on the post on his Facebook account, the netizen passed by a shopping mall and he was convinced to buy a kitchenware item because it is in a promo. There is a 10% discount.

However, according to the netizen, when he was about to pay for the items he was supposed to buy, he was surprised when the promo price and the original price of the items allegedly did not match.

Based on his social media post, the promo prices of the serving bowl and the tumbler are much higher than their original prices. The netizen claimed that he informed the cashier about it.

“Hindi daw nila kasalanan at taga total lang daw sila. Pinatawag ng kahera ang merchandizer ng nasabing produkto. Agad na dumipensa ang merchandizer at sinabing nagkamali lang daw ng lagay ng tag price.”

According to the netizen, what he noticed is not the tag price but the barcode of the items. He claimed that 20% of the original price was added that’s why the PHP 34.00 turned to PHP 42.00 and then it was put on sale at 10% off so it would cost PHP 38.00.

Based on his social media post, the netizen made a complaint letter for the management of the department store but when he asked for a copy of it, he was not given and instead brought to the Customer Service of the mall.

Surprisingly, the manager allegedly tore the complaint letter and was told to just complain through the Online Customer Service of the mall. Here is the full post of the netizen about the alleged “modus” of the department stores:
