Burgos, Surigao del Norte Struck By Magnitude 4.1 Earthquake

A magnitude 4.1 earthquake has struck the town of Burgos in Surigao del Norte, according to the report of the state volcanology agency Phivolcs.

Around 12:34 noon on Friday (May 18, 2018), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the town of Burgos in the province of Surigao del Norte has been struck by a magnitude 4.1 quake.

Phivolcs reported that the strong tremor has been felt about 46 kilometers north of Burgos town.

The quake has a depth of 15 kilometers and tectonic in origin, according to the seismology agency.

The state volcanology agency explained that there is no damage has been recorded due to the quake. There are also no tsunami alert or aftershocks are expected.
