Mon Confiado Reminisces Extreme Transformation for ‘The Diplomat Hotel’ Role

Mon Confiado shocks netizens after revealing his previous transformation.

MON CONFIADO- Veteran actor Mon Confiado looks back at his extreme transformation for his role on the film “The Diplomat Hotel”.

Mon Confiado is one of the most experienced actors in the Philippine entertainment industry having appeared in over 300 local and international films and in excess of 500 television guestings.

The passion and exceptional talent in performing arts run in Mon’s family, more particularly because he was the son of former actor Angel Confiado, another respected veteran in the field.

Recently, Mon took to his Instagram account to share some ‘behind the scenes’ snap shots from the five year old film ‘The Diplomat Hotel’.

The film was shown on the big screen as a Cinemalaya entry last 2013 where Mon played the character of a ‘strange, mysterious man’, hence his signature anti-hero roles.

As his caption reads, he claims to have lost 40 pounds, shaved his hairline and pate and mastered the slumped posture and deeper voice in a span of 3 weeks to satisfy the characteristics of his role.

“It was an amazing experience doing this character! It’s like you’ve abandoned your body,” Mon wrote.

The outcome of such drastic transformation made Mon look like a slouched middle-aged man with a receding hairline, very distant from the macho Emilio Aguinaldo role he portrayed in the historic film ‘Heneral Luna’.

The said transformation elicits compliments from the netizens. In the comment section of his post, many lauded Mon for making such brave act of gambling his masculine figure in the name of performing arts.

“The Diplomat Hotel” circulates around the life of a disgraced reporter, portrayed by Gretchen Barretto, who seeks redemption by spending one night with the documentary crew at the hotel known for its horror history. The film was directed by Christopher Ad Castillo.
