Benitez Says Collapsed Wooden Footbridge In Zamboanga Costs P12M

Alfredo Benitez said in a statement that the collapsed wooden footbridge in Zamboanga City allegedly costs over P12 million.

Last week, the collapse of the wooden footbridge in Barangay Rio Hondo, Zamboanga involving some Filipino government officials have been the headlines of several local news outlets and social media pages.

The video shows how the politicians fell into the murky waters after the wooden footbridge they were stepping in suddenly collapsed.

Collapsed Wooden Footbridge

The government officials were identified as House Committee on Housing and Urban Development chair Alfredo Benitez, Zamboanga City Representative Celso Lobregat, Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar, and other officials

On Thursday (May 03 2018), Benitez revealed the costs of the collapsed wooden bridge funded by the National Housing Authority (NHA).

“Yung wooden bridge na nilakaran namin ay may cost na P12 million,” Benitez said quoted by Msn.

Collapsed Wooden Footbridge

The collapsed structure has been immediately repaired after the incident.

Meanwhile, Albee Benitez said that they investigating the housing on stilts that cost only P20, 000 less than concrete houses.

The 51-year-old politician also revealed that the materials used in constructing the housing on stilts were the same as those used in the wooden footbridge.

Benitez also said that there’s a possibility that the housing on stilts might also collapse.
