LTFRB Questions Grab For Not Informing Them Of P2/Minute Charge
The Land Transportation Franchise and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has questioned Grab Company for not informing them of P2 per minute charge.
LTFRB chair Martin Delgra III said in an interview that the ride-hailing service company Grab did not inform the board before imposing their P2 per minute charge to passengers.
The ride service company was urged by the board to explain the changes implemented in their fare scheme last year.
On December 27, 2016, Delgra said that LTFRB has been very specific on fare mechanism stating that the ride-hailing services should only charge a flagdown rate of P40, which is still in effect.
The board also allows Grab for an additional charge of P10 to P14 per kilometer excluding the duration charges.
“The position of the board really is that it has exercised its adjudicatory function as early as December 27, 2016,” LTFRB said quoted by Philstar.
Delgra explained that the request of PUV for fare increase undergoes a tedious process before receiving the approval of LTFRB.
Grab has been also asked by Rep. Jericho Nograles (PBA party-list) to explain to the public how did they come up with charging P2 per minute to the commuters.
Nograles also found out that Grab was charging P80 after entering a similar pick-up place and destination, which is doubled to its supposed flagdown rate of P40.
John Paul Nabua, a legal counsel of Grab defend the company claiming that it notified LTFRB about the implementation of adjusted fare, which was imposed June last year.
