PAGASA Announces Tropical Depression To Enter Philippines During Holy Week

The state weather bureau PAGASA announced that a tropical depression was expected to enter the Philippines during the Holy Week.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that a tropical storm was expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and could bring lights rains over the eastern parts of the country.

PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said that the impending cyclone might not make landfall in any part of the Philippines.

Holy Week

The tropical cyclone was last spotted at 1,560 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur on Sunday afternoon (March 25, 2018).

The weather disturbance has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and could gusts up to 80 kph moving west-northwest at 23 kph.

The tropical depression would be named Caloy as it enters PAR and might reach the typhoon category, according to Rojas.

Holy Week

Rojas said that the storm would bring light rains over the Bicol region, eastern Visayas and eastern Mindanao but also expected to recurve and heads towards Japan.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country would have fair weather this week but very rough seas in the eastern parts of the Philippines might be experienced.

The storm was also expected to leave the country by Thursday (March 29, 2018).
