According to a report from the Manila Times, he will have a fight against secondary welterweight world titlist Lucas Matthysse on June 24 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but Bob Arum of Top Rank said not so fast.

“It’s already final I’m going to fight in Malaysia on June 24. It is against Matthysse. I’ll be ready for the preparation and it’s going to be 11 weeks,” the boxer said.

However, he said that his company will hold the promotion adding fuel to the speculation there has been a break between Pacquiao and his longtime promoter Bob Arum.

Arum also said that the boxer is also under the Top Rank and they would still have an involvement in promoting Pacquiao’s fights whether it is against Matthysse or not.

But based on a report from The PhilStar, Pacquiao’s lawyer Eldibrando Viernesto revealed, “I reviewed the contract and I found out that Bob Arum has no more say even in the rematch, should there be any, between Manny Pacquiao and Australian boxer Jeff Horn.”

Moreover, Pacquiao expressed this about his bout with Matthysse, “I like [Matthysse’s] aggressive fighting style. That’s what I want, to entertain the boxing fans. Besides, Matthysse is not a dirty fighter and I highly respect him for that.”
