Filipino Artistry Wins In 2018 Binibining Pilipinas National Costume Competition

The Filipino artistry, creativity, and ingenuity win in 2018 Binibining Pilipinas National Costume Competition.

The modern touches and unconventional materials in unexpected silhouettes have been incorporated by the Filipino designers for the 2018 Binibining Pilipinas national costume competition.

However, several local designers have decided to make their designs more authentic and merged indigenous fabrics and embellishments, which worn by the beauty pageant candidates.

Filipino Artistry

Binibining Pilipinas candidates have showcased the costumes created by the local designers showing the creativity and artistry of the Filipinos.

Some costumes have LED lights and one of the dresses used an armor of Capiz shell. There are also some candidates who use swords, spears, dagger, and even pistols during their performance at the event.

The lucky candidates who were able to make it to the Top 10 have the most authentic pieces.

Catriona Gray’s singkil princess garb created by Jearson Demavivas received loud cheers from the audiences. Michelle Gumabao’s black flamenco-inspired terno by Nat Manilag has been also one of the most admired costumes.

Andrea Abesamis, Rosantonette Mendoza, Sarah Margarette Joson and Stephanie Abellanida wore intricate costumes designed by Chico Estiva, Ryan Uson Ablaza, Jay-r Gamboa Flores and Archie Castillo, respectively representing Mindanao.

While, beauty queens Rachel Peters, Mariel de Leon and Katarina Rodriguez were dubbed as “Jag Denim Queens”.

The Best in National Costume will be announced on March 18 during the coronation night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
