Pinoy TV Host Anthony Taberna Earns Criticisms Over Controversial Remarks To Rape Victim
The Filipino TV host Anthony Taberna has earned criticisms online for his controversial remarks towards a 19-year-old rape victim.
On Monday (February 19, 2018), Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG) has featured a report regarding a young lady raped by the friend of her chat mate.
The young woman has reportedly had an eyeball with her chatmate at Barangay Bagong Silang, Caloocan City wherein they have decided to drink alcoholic beverages together with other six male friends.
The victim was allegedly raped by three men while the four others were only watching. Five out of the seven suspects have been already arrested while the authorities are still looking for the lady’s chat mate.
Taberna gave comments, which allegedly blaming the rape victim because of her choice leading to a miserable ending.
“Pambihira naman, o. Ito po’y hindi first time na nangyari, ano. Napakadami nang pagkakataon ‘yang eyeball-eyeball na ‘yan. At ang mas delikado, nakipag-eyeball ka na nga, nakipag-inuman ka pa. Yun ang problema, yun ang mabigat sa lahat. Lalo’t puro lalaki ang kainuman mo. E, 19 years old lang yun,” Taberna said quoted by PEP.ph

Ka Tunying also stated that ladies should always remain on red alert as a safety precaution and eventually explained that justice must be served for the victim and suspect should be punished.
However, some netizens lambasted the TV host for alleged victim-blaming on the morning show.
