Vaccine Preventing Cancers That Can Reduce Death Among Filipinos

Vaccine preventing cancers can reduce the increasing rate of countless deaths in the Philippines due to the liver and cervical cancer.

Cancer is one of the most dangerous and deadliest types of diseases taking thousands of lives all around the world every year.

A huge percentage of Filipino people usually dies because of cancer and other diseases linked to viruses associated with cancers.


The viruses associated with cancers are hepatitis B and C viruses (HBV and HCV), human papillomaviruses (HPV), human T-cell leukemia virus (HTLV-1), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), and Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCV).

Good news, there are vaccines that can prevent cancers to reduce the countless cancer-related deaths among Filipinos.

As of now, the vaccines for hepatitis B and HPV indirectly targets the cancer cells and could prevent the deaths of Filipino people due to the liver and cervical cancer.


Liver cancer is the eight of the most common cancer all around the world among men and women. In 2014, about 20 Filipinos die because of this disease, which is projected to double by 2030.

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the country, wherein about 12 women died every day because of cervical cancer.
