Dead Sea Creature Found In Bayawan City Frightens Residents Of Possible Earthquake

A dead sea creature found in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental has frightened the residents because of a possible earthquake.

Bayawan City, Negros Oriental – the fisher folks found a dead Megamouth shark, which causes fear to the residents as it generates speculations of a possible earthquake.

The dead shark has been discovered by the local folks of Bayawan City on Sunday (February 11, 2018).

The citizens in the area are fearing an earthquake might strike their city after the appearance of oarfish in shallow waters last year was linked to the series of earthquakes in different parts of the country.

The experts declined the speculations of incoming earthquake calling it as a superstition and explained that there are no scientific studies proving that the death of a rare shard could be a sign of an impending calamity.

However, a Japanese seismologist Kiyoshi Wadatsumi said that deep-sea creatures are sensitive to any irregular movements in the sea ground and their appearance in shallow waters indicates that something is happening in the deep.

Megamouth sharks are classified as extremely rare species living in deep waters, which was first discovered in 1976. They can grow up to 17-feet in length and a lifespan of 100 years.
