PHIVOLCS Releases Latest Updates On Mayon Volcano

The latest updates regarding the current situation of Mayon Volcano has been released by the state volcanology agency PHIVOLCS.

The eruption of Mayon Volcano has displaced nearly 90, 000 residents living in Albay due to lava fountaining and ash plumes emission.

Mt. Mayon remains under the alert level 4 indicating a possible major eruption might occur in weeks or even days.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) also prohibits the public from entering the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ).

On Tuesday (January 30, 2018), Mayon Volcano remains unrest as it generates lava fountaining and spewing ashes leaving towns in darkness.

Recently, the official Twitter page of CNN Philippines has posted the photo of Mt. Mayon featuring its picturesque perfect cone.

Meanwhile, the restaurants and hotels outside the 9-kilometer danger zone boom due to the irregularities of the volcano about two weeks ago.

“We are thankful because we have many guests but it also makes me guilty because so many people are affected,” said by Purita Araojo, a front desk officer at Vista Al Mayon Pensionne.
