UST Issues Official Statement On UAAI’s Award Given To Mocha Uson
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) has finally issued an official statement about the award given by the UST Alumni Association Inc. (UAAI) to Mocha Uson.
Previously, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux “Mocha” Uson received the Thomasian Alumni Award in Government Service from the UST Alumni Association Inc.
The PCOO Asec has been awarded by the association because of her service under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Unfortunately, the University of Santo Tomas Central Student Council (UST-CSC) opposed the UAAI’s decision to reward Mocha Uson for allegedly spreading fake news and information in the social media.
Recently, the social media page “The Varsitarian” has posted the official statement of UST regarding the government service award given by UAAI to Mocha Uson.
The statement clarifies that the award given to PCOO Asec. Mocha Uson came from UAAI, which is corporation separate from UST itself.
UST’s statement also explained that UAAI has its own board of trustees and operates independently and the University does not interfere with its affairs.
The University explained that they were only releasing The Outstanding Thomasian Alumni (TOTAL) awards to graduates who undergo a screening process.

Eh kahit Alumni ng UST (removed)ociation gumawa gawa nyan eh di dala pa rin non yung pangalan ng UST, totoo naman eh di ba nila na realize anong mararamdaman ng ibang awardee na kung kanikanino lang pala binibigay yan eh.
Kahit sabihin ng Alumni Assoc na labas sila sa mismong Univeristy, nakakahiya parin kasi dala pa rin nila pangalan ng University of Santo Tomas, meaning nakakahiya pa rin. Di ba nila na realize anong feeling nung mga ibang awardee na well deserve tapos pwede naman pala bigay kung kani kanino lang. Wala naman kwenta yun standards, or criteria di naman porket na sa High Ranking position sasabihin mo ng successful yon or may significance syang nagawa sa bayan.
