Different Areas In Mindanao Under Red Alert Status Due To Bagyong Vinta

Alert status have been raised in different cities and municipalities in the Mindanao Region due to the tropical storm Vinta.

Earlier, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced that Bagyong Vinta was crossing Compostela Valley.

Vinta has maximum sustained winds of 90 kilometers per hour (kph) and could gusts up to 155 kph moving 20 kph at the west direction.

The severe tropical storm brings moderate to heavy rain, which could be experienced in the Visayas and Mindanao. Tropical cyclone warning signals were also raised in different areas in the country.

Recently, the Facebook page “Jabines Travel and Tours” has shared cities and municiplaties in Mindanao under alert status due to the weather disturbance.

  • Iligan is currently under red alert
  • Cagayan de Oro is suffering from massive flooding
  • The official page of Ozamiz City advised alternative routes to reach Mukas, re: Aurora. Business as usual in Ozamiz. No flights going to Manila have been canceled, but vessels heading to Cebu has been canceled last night.
  • Misamis Occidental will also do the same precautionary measures due to the high risk of flash floods and landslides.
