The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is reminding employers of the pay rules on November 30, 2017, the 154th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio or Bonifacio Day, which is a regular non-working holiday.
AndrĂ©s Bonifacio was dubbed as the “Father of the Philippine Revolution”. He was also the president of the Tagalog Republic.
He’s also one of the founders and later Supremo (Supreme Leader) of the Kataas-taasan, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan or more commonly known as “Katipunan”, a movement which sought the independence of the Philippines from Spanish colonial rule and started the Philippine Revolution.
Meanwhile, according to Labor Advisory No. 10, series of 2017 pursuant to Proclamation No. 269 of President Rodrigo Duterte, the commemoration of the birth of Andres Bonifacio has been declared as a regular holiday.
Here are the pay rules Bonifacio Day:
- If the employee did not work, he/she shall be paid 100% of his/her salary for that day [(Daily rate + COLA)] x 100%]
- For work done during the regular holiday, he/she shall be paid 200% of his/her regular salary for that day for the first eight hours [(Daily rate + COLA) x 200%]
- For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work), he/she shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her hourly rate on said day (Hourly rate of the basic daily wage x 200% x 130% x number of hours worked)
- For work done during a regular holiday that also falls on his/her rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her daily rate of 200% [(Daily rate + COLA) x 200%] + [30% (Daily rate x 200%0]
- For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work) during a regular holiday that also falls on his/her rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30% of his/her hourly rate on said day (Hourly rate of the basic daily wage x 200% x 130% x 130% number of hours worked)
