Kára McCullough, a physical scientist at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, is the official candidate of the United States of America (USA) in the Miss Universe 2017.
Born in Naples, Italy, the 26-year-old titleholder finished her high school in Virginia Beach, Virginia and got a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with a concentration in radiochemistry from South Carolina State University.
While being a student, she served as the school’s 75th Miss South Carolina State University.
She’s also a member of the American Chemical Society, the Health Physics Society, and the American Nuclear Society and was inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society and the National Society of Black Engineers.
At present, McCullough works as an emergency preparedness specialist in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.
Kára McCullough is the seventh Miss USA titleholder born outside the United States.
