MMC Suspends Classes On November 16-17, 2017 Due To The 31st ASEAN Summit

The Metro Manila Council (MMC) has suspended the classes on November 16 and 17, 2017 in observance of the 31st ASEAN Summit.

The 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other related summits was held in the Philippines from November 10 to 14, 2017, which causes cancellation of classes and works in government offices in the affected areas.

During the 9th Metro Manila Council Meeting, Danilo Lim, the chairperson of Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said that the mayors from Metro Manila agreed to suspend the classes in selected areas on November 16-17.

All private and public schools in Navotas, Paranaque, Pasay, Pasig, Pateros, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig, Caloocan, Las Pinas, Makati, Malabon, Valenzuela, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, and Manila are covered by the class suspension.

The suspension of classes on November 16-17 (Thursday and Friday) was based on Proclamation No. 50, which was issued by Malacañang.

November 30, 2017, has been also declared a regular holiday in commemoration of Bonifacio Day.

Meanwhile, the Philippine was able to successfully host the 50th anniversary of Association of Southeast Asian Nations on their third chairmanship of this international gathering.
