Eat Bulaga Host Joey de Leon Admits Mistakes Over His Distasteful Remarks About Depression
The veteran TV host Joey de Leon has admitted his mistakes over his controversial comment about depression on Eat Bulaga.
Previously, the comedian dismissed as “just made up” an elderly woman suffering depression while hosting the longest-running noontime show “Eat Bulaga,” which garnered negative feedback from the public.
The Eat Bulaga host eventually issued a public apology over his comments about depression after underestimating the effect of this mental health condition and temporarily take a break in showbiz.
Joey de Leon is now laughing the observation of the entertainment press after he overcomes the controversy over his distasteful remarks about depression more than a month ago.
The TV host admitted his mistakes over his controversial comment about the mental health condition affecting millions of people worldwide, which is also the major reason why some people are committing suicide.
The 71-year-old celebrity admits that he never experience depression and explained that he only realized that depression is a serious matter after his wife and children explained that some of their relatives were suffering from this mental condition.
“Sinabi ko talaga yun na, yung iba naman, loosely, ginagamit yung word na ‘yan. Nakipag-break lang sa boyfriend, ‘A, depressed ako.’ Yun ang ibig kong sabihin noon, e, na-hurt yung iba, nag-sorry naman ako. Kaya sabi, kung may buti na idudulot yung kamalian ko, e, di yun na ‘yon,” said by Joey de Leon quoted by Pep.ph
