The father of former Kapuso singer-turned-Kapamilya belter Jona Viray passed away early this morning.
She recently went to the image-sharing site, Instagram, wherein she shared the sad news about the death of her father.
“Rest in peace Daddy… You are now with our Creator… We love you so much… We will miss you… Please talk to me in my dreams and embrace me tightly as I sleep… Love you so much Daddy,” she noted on the caption.
Last week, during her appearance on “Tonight with Boy Abunda”, Jona couldn’t help but cry as she talked about her ailing father.
According to Jona, her father was confined to the hospital for over a month after fungus was found inside his head.
She added that her father’s vision was even affected due to the rapid growth of the fungus which later on made him blind.
Jona came to prominence when she won the Pinoy Pop Superstar.
She is also the former lead singer of trio girl-group La Diva, alongside with Maricris Garcia and Aicelle Santos.
The trio earned a string of hits with their rendition of songs namely; I’m Yours, Angels Brought Me Here, Apologize, Stand up For Love.
They also performed the Philippine National Anthem at the Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto boxing match in Las Vegas.
In February 2016, Viray has ended her decade of exclusivity with GMA and has transferred to ABS-CBN with changing her screen name to “Jona”.
