Luzon island on red alert.
The island of Luzon was placed on the red alert according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Friday, October 20.
The island was put on the highest alert because of the unscheduled shutdown of some power plants.
This is with peak demand expected to exceed supply.
The NGCP said on their Facebook page that the red alert will take effect from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. where demand is expected to reach 9,051 megawatts versus capacity of 9,083 megawatts.
Immediate announcement of power interruptions was not raised as of press time.
