Free Tuition, Miscellaneous Fee Available For SUCs, Local Colleges Next Year
The students from State Universities and local colleges would be free from tuition and miscellaneous fee starting next year.
Nowadays, most of the college students were struggling to enroll in college and earn a bachelor’s degree due to financial instability. The expensive tuition and miscellaneous fee from several state universities seem to hinder the students to go to college.
Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte has already signed the bill that provides free tuition fees for the students in selected state universities and colleges nationwide this 2017. However, the students are still required to pay their miscellaneous fee.
Recently, Commission on Higher Education Commissioner Prospero de Vera confirmed that state colleges, universities, and local colleges will be free from tuition and miscellaneous fee starting 2018.
According to De Vera, this educational program was the first bill to be imposed after the government courageously pursue their goal to provide free college education to the public schools.
In addition, De Versa also assured that the public higher education institutions will be stricter when it comes to the admission process and retention policies.
It means that the public higher education will set standards and will give cut off on the grades of the students to determine if they are qualified to enter public schools.
The students will be given minimum grades to maintain their qualifications for free college education.
