Magnitude 6.1 quake hits the east coast of Japan.
JAPAN – A strong magnitude of 6.1 earthquake has hit the east coast of Japan without tsunami warning early morning of Thursday, September 21.
In spite of the strong quake magnitude that hit the eastern coast of the said country, the authorities still did not issue a tsunami warning.
According to a report from the Manila Bulletin, the tremblor strikes the 281 kilometers or 175 miles east of a city in Honshu (the largest Japanese island), the Kamaishi.
United States Geological Survey (USGS) said that it only has a depth of just 10 kilometers. Additional, a weak shaking have been felt in Honshu and the damages expected would just minor.
Japan Meteorological Agency announced that “no tsunami warning was in effect.”
As per written on the report, the country sits at the joint of four tectonic plates and is experiencing relative violent tremblors every year.
