Steven Füglister, The Pinoy Ice Hockey Star Is A Half Negrense
The Filipino ice hockey star Steven Füglister who won gold in the latest Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Malaysian is half Negrense.
Steven Füglister is the team captain of the Philippine men’s ice hockey team that won gold at the recent SEA Games. He also said that their team won a bronze medal for the country last 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan.
Füglister tied the knot with the fashion designer Vania Romoff from Cebu who has also roots in Negros Occidental last September 07, 2017.
Steven shares that her mother Teresita Talisay Füglister was the daughter of Serafin and Margarita Talisay of Negros Occidental. He said that his family was originally from La Castellana but eventually moved to Binalbagan due to his grandfather’s job in the sugarcane industry.
The ice hockey player praised his mom who is now working at Zurich Airport Police for raising him to a person he is right now and living on the principles instilled by his parents.
“My mum is a hardworking, family-oriented and faithful person. She played a big role in raising me to be the person I am today and I still live by the principles my parents instilled in me,” said by Steven quoted by Visayan Daily Star.
The 31-year-old ice hockey star revealed that his father Markus Füglister, an aircraft engineer in Switzerland has already passed away last April 2016 at the age of 59 due to cancer.
Füglister said that he was born and grew up in Switzerland and visiting the Philippines at least once a year, but he is now currently living in Makati City. He was also the current head coach of the U20 National Team.
