Filipino people are popularly known for being one of the most talented people not only in the Philippines but also in different countries all over the world due to their natural skills and abilities in sports.
In 2019, the Philippines was set to host the 30th edition of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games). The next biennial sports event will be a great opportunity for the country to look for talented Filipino athletes.
On Wednesday (September 13, 2017), the president said during his speech that he was honored that the country will host a very important sports event. He was looking forward that local government would recruit athletes from non-traditional places.
Duterte also wanted to take advantage of the hosting to recruit talented Pinoys in the field of sports including out-of-school youth and indigenous tribes. He said that it is the time for the Philippine Sports Commission to widen their scope.
“Thus, I enjoin the PSC to widen its scope and recruit nationwide. Look for them in nontraditional places and include members of the indigenous tribes and the out-of-school youth,” said by Duterte quoted by Manila Bulletin.
The president just wanted to give the Filipino people from non-traditional place to have the opportunity to use their full potential and show their talents worldwide.
