By 2085, Around 7 Cities Could Possibly Submerge In Water Due To Climate Change
Here are the 7 cities in the Philippine that will be submerged in water by 2085 due to the typhoons and flooding caused by climate change.
Climate change is a threat that could not be ignored because it causes typhoon and flooding, which severely affects the country through damaging numerous homes and takings thousands of lives.
Previously, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) said that there are seven cities vulnerable to the rise in sea levels and might be totally submerged in water by 2085 because Philippine is only a small archipelago surrounded by waters.
ADB also said that those seven cities could be exposed to an almost one-meter increase of sea level. Coastal and low-lying areas in the region have an increased risk and more vulnerable to floodwaters, which might cause greater damage in the country.
Here are the cities prone to the increased sea level, due to the natural disasters caused by the climate change.
- Manila
- Malabon
- Taguig
- Caloocan
- Davao
- Butuan
- Iloilo
“Natural disasters are expected to cause further displacement from rural to urban areas, as has already occurred in the past,” said by ADB quoted by Inquirer.
Those disasters can still be prevented if every Filipinos would unite in protecting the country through the proper garbage disposal, recycling, conserving energy and water. Avoiding to produce any kind of pollution and planting trees can be a great help too.
