More Than 4, 000 Filipino Youth Could Be Deported Over Possible Disapproval Of DACA
More than 4, 000 Filipino youth could be deported from the United States enrolled in DACA over the possible disapproval of the program.
The Philippine Embassy assured that they are willing to provide assistance for the thousands of Filipino youth that could be deported from the United States over the disapproval of the program protecting them.
Vice Consul Darell Ann Artates explained that around 4, 600 Pinoy youth were currently enrolled in Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which was previously dismissed by Us President Donald Trump.
Artates explained that over 5, 055 applicants, there are only 4, 600 Filipino youth are granted to be enrolled in DACA from 2012 to March 2017. She also said that the young people enrolled on the program will be affected the most.
“Ang talagang maapektuhan dito ay ‘yung mga naka-enroll. Kasi ang programang ito ay para doon sa pumasok sa Estados Unidos nang walang papeles noong minor,” said by Artates quoted by ABS-CBN.
DACA is a protection program for the Filipino youth to prevent being deported to the Philippines. The program allows the youth to enter US without any documents and giving them two years to prepare all the required papers.
The program also gives work permit and social security number, which can only be acquired by legitimate immigrants.
Artates also said that DACA legalizes Filipinos enrolled in the program to work and study in the United States.
