PAGASA Raises Flood Warning In Ilocos Region, Zambales, Batanes Due To Tropical Depression ‘Kiko’

Flood warnings are raised in some parts of Luzon including Batanes, Ilocos Region, and Zambales due to heavy rain brought by Bagyong ‘Kiko’.

On Wednesday (September 06, 2017), the tropical depression ‘Kiko” has crossed the northern part of the Philippines. Large parts of Luzon could experience a moderate or heavy rain, flood warnings were raised in the area for possible floods and landslides.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) stated that The Batanes islands, the Ilocos Region and Zambales province are prone to floods brought by the tropical depression, which is now heading to China.

The state weather bureau announced that around 3 am on Wednesday, ‘Kiko’ was spotted 100 kilometers northwest of Calayan, Cagayan with a maximum sustained winds of 50 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 65kph.

PAGASA meteorologist Meno Mendoza said that the storm will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday evening if it will continuously move at 20 kph.

Mendoza also said that other parts of the Philippines including Metro Manila could experience thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is currently monitoring another low-pressure area outside PAR, according to Mendoza.
