Sacked Caloocan police chief Chito Bersaluna claimed the Kian’s drug activities confirmed through posts on social media sites.
SOCIAL MEDIA – Sacked Caloocan City police chief Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna admitted on Thursday that they have “validated” alleged drug involvement of Kian Loyd through social media posts after the slain.
According to the report of The Philippine Star, the sacked police chief stated, “After noong incident we have to check the background. Actually we only happen to know the involvement of Kian because of the arrested, alias ‘Nono’.”
“The identity of the suspect was not yet revealed. We also based some sa lumalabas na ano doon sa social media na nagsasabi. Yun lamang po ang basis namin after na noong operation.”
Bersaluna faced the Senate Committee on Public Order and Illegal Drugs and that is where he made the admission to which the senators were irked by the answer.
Boxing champ and now a senator, Manny Pacquiao, was also disappointed for the admission for accordingly, the social media is not a valid source of information.
The senator is a known supporter of the anti-drug campaign and is also known for supporting the reliving of the capital punishment.
“Hindi puwede rito ‘yan. Hindi puwedeng sabihin mo na ang basis mo lang ay social media,” Pacquiao added.
On the other hand, as per Kicker Daily News’ report, Senator Joel Villanueva supported the statement of Pacquiao and indicated, “Don’t base everything sa social media. Kaya nga sinasabi natin na importante ang intelligence report, kaya nga ang report nilagyan ng intelligence para siguraduhin na may laman ang intelligence.”
